Belkin Wireless Installation
First install your Belkin wireless interface per the intructions that came with the card. The most recent drivers for this card can be found here: http://web.belkin.com/support/download/download.asp?category=9&lang=1&mode=
Once finished with this step you will see a new Belkin Wireless LAN Utility icon both on the desktop and in the system tray (it's a green square) on the bottom right hand side of your screen. Similar to this:
Now double-click on either icon and the screen below will open. It will not state that the Link Quality is excellent (but it will soon!) because you have not set up the card to UNC's system yet.
From this window click on the "Configuration" tab and type UNC in the "Profile Name" space. The only thing you need to change on this screen is the "Network Name" to UNC-1 and this is case sensitive.
Next go to the "Encryption" tab. As of mid-March UNC will be requiring all wireless cards to use WEP Encryption. It is recommended to do this now. Simply pull down the Encryption menu enable 64/40 bit WEP and manually enter the appropriate WEP key in Hexadecimal.
To double check that you are using the most current version of the Belkin wireless software, click on the "About" tab. You should be using network driver version 1.32.01 or higher if available. Again, go to http://web.belkin.com/support/download/download.asp?category=9&lang=1&mode= to download the latest version. Finally, click on "Apply" and hit "OK". You should now be able to connect to UNC's wireless network.
When you mouse over the system tray icon you should see a message stating the link quality. See the right corner of the desktop image for an example. The link quality will vary depending upon multiple things including network congestion and your distance from a wireless hub.
